Fire Safety in Properties

Following the tragedy at Grenfell Tower last year, it is no surprise that a review of the Building Regulations and Fire Safety Report has been published.

The document, which inspected building and fire safety regulations, compliance and enforcement in high rise residential buildings, has revealed that both landlords and building managers will now be held accountable by a ‘joint competent authority’ (JCA) that is due to be introduced.

Do I need an electrical test on my property

Questions answered regarding electrical problems, such as.....Is there currently a law surrounding electrical testing?

The Housing and Planning Act has a clause included within it which gives the government power to introduce electrical safety standards in the PRS (Private Rented sector) for landlords in England and Wales, so whilst electrical safety checks are not yet mandatory it is likely that the rest of the UK will soon have to fall into line with the PRS in Scotland and electrical safety will become as prominent as gas safety within the sector.
